Known Issues

PostScript Printers Only

Please make sure you have the correct and most recent PostScript driver installed on your system. In rare cases, the print function will not work properly if an incorrect or outdated driver is installed. Please contact your printer manufacturer to obtain the correct printer driver.

Why am I prompted to enter DVD #2?

When you first install the product it will show all the issue thumbnails in the main window. However, if you click the first issue it will ask you to put in DVD #2, which contains the larger files for the first half of the archive. Older issues are on DVD #1. If you select the option to install all the issues to your hard drive (requires approx 8GB space) you will not be prompted for the DVDs in the future.

  1. Hello

I received the “World War II, the first 25 years” yesterday, and my expectations was more than fulfilled.
The search option made it easy to find lots on articles on any topic, excellent work.

I have one question though, I would like to transfer the PDF files to my tablet pc, but as they are password-protected this is not an option.
Is it possible to get the password. It is of course only for my personal use and the files/magazines will not be distributed in any form.

    Thank you

    Best regards Thor Lotveit

    1. Hello Thor.

Thank you for purchasing the DVD-ROM. Unfortunately we cannot provide un-protected versions of the PDFs.

      Thank you.

  2. Yes, I am interested in purchasing the 25 years but only if it can be loaded onto a android tablet. Being tied to a laptop for media consumption is not going to cut it. Can these be used on a tablet if dvds are purchased?

    1. Thank you for your interest. Unfortunately this product is designed for, and only works on Macs and PCs so it can’t work on a tablet at this time.

      1. Thats to bad, would love to have this resource at hand as WW2 is my hobby and this would be beyond great. But can’t be tied to a machine. Revamping to travelling tablet would probably increase sales 10 fold. Think of it like the magazine, one can take it anywhere easily, but this format is not best for today’s consumer. Unfortunate

  3. I also agree about the ability to read on a tablet, IPAD. I mean we already can get our subscriptions from your company on our IPAD, we should be able to have this product linked someway to a registered ipad. Thanks

  4. I was going to purchase the dvd and load on my I pad that I use when I travel. Decided not to purchase if I can not load on my I pad.
    Thanks

  5. I CANNOT USE THIS PRODUCT WITHOUT A PASSWORD. IF YOU CANNOT PROVIDE ME WITH ONE I WILL HAVE TO RETURN THE 2 SET DVD WORLD WAR II.

    1. Hello. The DVD doesn’t require a password to install it to your desktop and see all the issues. Should just be able to drop it in the DVD-ROM drive and install – please see instructions above in this post.

If you are trying to access the raw PDFs those are indeed protected, because the PDFs are designed to only work inside the interface of the installed product. This is by design.

Thank you for your interest in our DVD-ROM and if you aren’t satisfied with your purchase we are happy to help with a return.

    1. Yolanda, this DVD-ROM set contains scans of all the articles published in World War II magazine during its first 25 years. It’s contents are to be read rather than viewed as a movie, so we can’t say it will require X hours of viewing. We do say, however, that it will give many, many hours of reading pleasure to anyone interested in learning more about the Second World War.

  6. Can articles be loaded in sight impaired software (text-to-audio)? Most need a PDF file. Or at worst, copy and paste into software.

    1. Hi, Stephen. Each issue of World War II magazine on this DVD-ROM is exactly as it was originally published. Every page of every issue was scanned, so the advertisements that appeared in that issue are there on the DVD-ROM along with the text, photos and other images. It’s actually kind of fun to see what was being advertised 10, 15, or 25 years ago. Thanks for your interest in our DVD-ROM of the first 25 years of World War II magazine.

  7. I have a desktop and a laptop
Can I install a copy of these on both computers
Also I am a real tech bug and upgrade to a new computer all the time
Can I install this on any new computer I get

    Thanks

    1. As long as you have the original discs, which you will need to run it, you can install it in multiple locations; however, because the disc needs to be in the computer while you are viewing the DVD-ROM’s contents, you can’t use it on more than one computer at the same time.

    1. Arnie, when you install the DVD-ROM and open any issue of the magazine, down at the bottom of the viewing page, to your left of all the other icons there, is a printer icon. Click on that, and you can print the page. However, as it says in the description of the DVD-ROM, it will only work with PostScript printers, and “you have the correct and most recent PostScript driver installed on your system.”
